About the role.

At Mad Realities, one of our core values is making reality feel like it’s glitching — like it’s mad. As our first product designer, you'll re-imagine how governance, digital ownership, and community should, and could, feel. We believe that the next big collective, trusted brands are going to be centered around delightful design and shared experiences.

We are looking for a product designer that perfectly balances following rules and not following rules while keeping empathy for the user. Our software interfaces are smooth, delightful UI/UX experiences, but also carry a distinct visual style and play with novel animations and interactions. We want chaos, color, personality, and opinion reflected in everything we put out into the world, while keeping user experience at the forefront of every interaction.

As our first product designer, you will be the owner of our Design System, web and mobile products, and everything in between. This includes our platform, where creators of TikTok original shows can host interactivity via a supercharged link-in-bio. Fans can subscribe for SMS updates, vote in polls to influence the direction of the shows, earn rewards and spend them in the Mad Store.

The Opportunity

• You’ll be the first product designer at a pioneering media & technology company with an existing passionate community ready to participate in everything we release. An example of this type of deep, magical participation? We sold out Webster Hall last spring, with 1000 people attending our live Proof of Love finale.

About you.

What you’ll do

• Design & ship core product. Implement and maintain core features of our product. Many core user stories will be greenfield work.
• Design polished features & interactions. You'll collaborate with our engineering team to handoff off your designs and produce specs that capture the nuances of each feature and interaction. From a satisfying swipe interaction to a well-constructed claim username flow, we value polished design as a way to delight our users.
